Welcome to Spillin' TV

T

Hello! If you’re reading this it’s probably because you’re a good friend and you want to support me, for that I am forever grateful. If you have somehow found your way here and don’t know me personally, then welcome! I am forever grateful to you too. I have wanted to get my voice out there (into the void) for years, but I didn’t quite know how I wanted to do it or what I wanted to say. I wanted to start a YouTube channel, but then I talked myself out of it. I wanted to start a podcast, but then I talked myself out of it. I wanted to start a blog, but then I talked myself out of it (and eventually talked myself back into it). I have finally decided that it’s time to spend less time talking myself out of things and more time doing them, which brings me here to what I guess you can call a blog. I’m not going to lie, I’m not entirely sure how to blog or what even constitutes a blog so this is going to be a journey; however, I do hope it’s at least an interesting journey.

You may have a few questions about this so called "blog" I'm starting, so I am going to attempt to preemptively answer them.

1. What is this blog going to be about?

Answer: Television!

2. Why television?

Short answer: I cannot string together cohesive thoughts about any other subject.

Long answer: For as long as I can remember I have always enjoyed watching television. As a young child my eyes would be GLUED to the television watching Barney do whatever Barney was doing. I would scream along to the Big Comfy Couch theme song “WITH LUNA AND MOLLY, A GIRL AND HER DOLLY” and painfully try to imitate Luna as she stretched like a clock. I watched all those Disney channel shows and LIVED for the crossover episodes. That’s So Suite Life of Hannah Montana??!? I got my whole entire life to that. I grew up an only child (I still am). Television was my friend when no one else was around. Half of the life lessons I learned were from watching people make bad choices on tv. I would watch any and everything, especially when my mom was around. Whatever she watched, I was watched. It was a way for us to bond and it’s been that way throughout my life. Television has shaped me into the person that I am today and it's probably one of my most defining character traits (yes, I am 100% saying that television is a character trait and if you know me you know what I mean). It only seems right that this is the part of me I share. This blog will give me the opportunity to scream about my faves on my own terms and people will either read it, or they won’t (but they totally should). It also saves my friends from having to listen to me talk about my favorite shows or characters constantly*.

*That last sentence was in fact, a lie.

In conclusion, thank you for reading and welcome to my blog!

PS: I may not know what’s going on in my own life, but I know a whole lot about what’s going on in television.
